10.   Hoshi no Koe (Voices of a Distant Star)

 The story of an extremely long distance love between two junior high school students.  Set in 2046 after the discovery of an ancient ruins on Mars, two lovers, Nagimine Mikako and Terao Naboru, are seperated when a Mars expidition is started. Naboru is starting High School, but Mikako is selected to head out to on a Mars Expedition.


9.   Air

 Yukito, a traveling performer, has lived his life in search of "The Girl In The Sky", from a tale he heard from his mother. Near starvation, a girl named Misuzu saves him, and he listens to her dreams; dreams of her flying in the sky. Then, to help make money, Yukito takes a job as a doctor, and meets another strange girl with similar dreams. His possibilities number the same as his pitfalls. Does the girl in the sky actually exist?

 

8.   Monster

Dr. Tenma is a Japanese Brain Surgeon in Germany, with amazing surgical skills, a shoe-in for a promotion, and an engagement to his boss's daughter. One day however, he is ordered to stop his ork on a young boy to instead help the ill but rich mayor. Dr. Tenma decides to do what is right, and continues to work to save the boy and is successful, while the doctors trying to save the mayor fail. Dr. Tenma is demoted, and his fiancee leaves him. Soon after however, a series of murders occur, all of which benefit the doctor drastically. And the oy he saves is heavily involved in them all. Who exactly is that kid, and what has DR. Tenma gotten himself into?


7.    Fruits Basket

 Honda Tohru is a young girl who lost her mother in a car accident. Never the quitter, Honda has begun to live in a forest near the school, working hard to honor her mom's memory. One day, she meets two other kids from her school who live in a cabin in the same forest, Sohma Yuki and his cousin Shigura. Will this meeting lead to new friendships and relationships? Why do they live in the forest? Why is the title Fruits Basket?

 

6.   Grave of the Fireflies

In the bombing of Tokyo near the end of World War Two, a boy and his sister are orphaned. The two are left to live on their own in whatever can be called 'civilian life' in Japan. The two must face the harsh Tokyo countryside, as well as prejudice, pride, and hunger as they fight their own personal battle to live. 


5.   Haibane Renmei (Grey Feather Alliance)

After waking up from a dream, a young girl named Rekka finds that she has a halo of glowing light over her head. She finds another group of girls like her, with charcoal grey wings, and is welcomed into the Haibane  (Grey Feather) Alliance, a group entrusted with the protection of the town called Guri. Who are these people, and why is Rekka one of them? The veil begins to lift as the plot thickens.

Tanaemura Arina is a twelve year old girl who wants to be a singer, but has a tumor in her throat that prevents her from fulfiling her dreams. The tumor can be cured, but at the cost of her voice. When two gods of death tell her she only has a year left to live, she begs them to change her into a sixteen year old to let er  try out for a singing audition. Arina passes the audition and begins her singing career, but can she realize her dreams before her time is up?
